Introduction

About

ShumaDaf is a movies collection management program. ShumaDaf allows you to analyze the content of your collection, enter and edit additional user data, and watch movies by using external players. The program works on the basis of data created by "My Movies" http://www.mymovies.dk

When you need ShumaDaf

MyMovies is a good tool for adding information about movies to your collection. But it is not very good decision for future collection management. For example MyMovies can't:
  • indicate movie folder size;
  • open movie folder;
  • sort movies by any parameter except title;
  • search for director or actors;
  • start players.
If you are using MyMovies to manage your collection but not satisfied with its usability - then try ShumaDaf.

Features

  • collect MyMovies data from movies folders and display it in the form of a configurable table;
  • sorting by any parameter;
  • search movie by title, director and actors;
  • assignment of user ratings and other parameters;
  • start watching movies with external players;
  • external drives support.

System Requirements

Program was designed and tested with Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. Probably it will work fine with another version of Microsoft Windows, but this is not checked. Hardware requirements does not matter - any machine newer enough to use Windows 7 are able to run ShumaDaf as well.

Getting started

Installation

Program requires no installation. You may put it to any folder you want. Program does not write any entries in the Windows registry or system folders.

Setup

Before using program you must specify the paths to your collection. To do this:
  • start a program;
  • select the tab "Setup";
  • specify all the folders with movies you want;
  • press "Save this list" button.
ShumaDaf now ready to use.

How it work

Every time you start program it scan all specified folders and collect data from "My Movies" xml files. Collected data is stored in "Collection.xml" file located in the program folder and displayed in main program window. You can sort your collection by any parameter you want and search desired text in movies titles, directors and actors name. In addition you can assign some user data to selected movie. In this case your personal data will be stored in "Collection.xml" file located in the program folder and in ".Shuid&Rate" files located in movies folders.

Section is in development now

How to use external players

You can start watching selected movie directly from main program window using one or two external players. To do so you must create in program folder two text files "Player1.txt" and "Player2.txt". If you need only one player then only one text file will be enough.
Each file must contain two lines. First line is a full path to your desired player. Second line is a user defined name of selected player. This name will be displayed on the corresponding button in ShumaDaf main window.
Your player must support the playback of the movie from the folder specified on the command line. We don't check many players but "Media Player Classic" and "Total Media Theater" both work fine. If you prefer another player you can check it ability to use command line parameter by yourself. Very likely it will work too.
Here is an example of "Player1.txt" file for use "Media Player Classic" installed in default folder:

C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack\Media Player Classic\mpc-hc.exe
MPC
